Chapter 11

This is the tenth chapter of the game Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.

Introduction[]

Now that my assignment to stop the execution had ended in such an unsatisfactory way... I decided to see Lynne at the justice minister's office. Detective Jowd's story about this "other murder" weighs on me heavily. Should I tell Lynne about it? I just don't know.

This time, Lynne isn't dead. But the atmosphere makes me think it might be too soon to count my blessings just yet.

Plot[]

Sissel leaves Jowd to go to the Justice Ministers office. Lynne is on all fours, peeking out behind the desk. Surprisingly, she isn’t the one dead this time. Going into the Ghost World, it is revealed that the Justice Minister's dead body is behind the desk. Sissel possesses him and learns that he was already dead when Lynne arrived. He had died of a heart attack after he dropped his water and pill bottle. Sissel brings Lynne up to speed about what happened at the prison.

During the 4 minutes before the Justice Minister’s death, he gets a phone call from a blue-skinned lady who says they have his daughter. Their demand was for Jowd to be executed.

Sissel is able to buy some time for the Justice Minister by helping him down a pitcher of water. Using a fan and some papers, Sissel is able to reach the medicine bottle that was launched by the Justice Minister. Though annoyed by the Justice Minister suddenly becoming conscious and spewing odd self-deprecations, Sissel launches the bottle back using a globe skewered on a sword, saving him from his heart attack. The Justice Minister sings in delight after taking his medicine.

Back in the present, Lynne and the Justice Minister are at a distance from each other and arguing over Jowd’s execution. Lynne tries to walk closer, but the Justice Minister yells at her to stay back. Lynne begs him to stop the execution again, but is cut off by being told Jowd escaped the prison.

Lynne notices Sissel’s presence, and takes the sword with him in it. The Justice Minister noticed that she was talking with someone, worried it was a ghost. Sissel butts in to say hi, which frightens the Justice Minister. He is very much in denial about Sissel’s existence, believing he is in a dream. Sissel explained how the Justice Minister’s daughter had been kidnapped, which Lynne admits to knowing. This causes the Justice Minister to nearly have a heart attack, again.

Sissel decides to go see what the kidnappers are up to.
